How to use & example
- Enter the bill total and your preferred tip percentage.
- Choose how many people are sharing the bill.
- Calculate the tip, overall total, and amount per person.
Example
For a $100 bill with a 20% tip split between 4 people, the tip is $20 and each person pays $30.
The currency selector changes the display symbol; it does not perform an exchange-rate conversion. Decide whether to enter a pre-tax or post-tax bill amount before calculating.
Questions
Is the tip calculated before or after tax?
The tip is calculated on the bill amount you enter. Enter the pre-tax subtotal if you want to tip before tax, or the full bill if you prefer to include tax.
Why might the rounded shares differ by a cent?
Per-person amounts are rounded to two decimal places. When the total cannot be divided evenly, someone may need to cover the remaining cent or two.
